Two hundred euros is the price of a versatile smartphone. At this price, we have the essentials: a pleasant screen, fluid menus and correct photos. We tested the flagship models of Chinese specialists in accessible smartphones , the Oppo A9, the Realme 6i and the Xiaomi Note 9, then added a more compact mobile, the Sony L4.
The three other smartphones that we tested are mastodons compared to the mobiles of our previous comparison of 2018: they gained a centimeter in length and half a centimeter in width.Their XXL format has unfortunately become the norm at this price level: this year's models are all huge.
This enlargement has unfortunate consequences: few users will operate these mobiles with one hand; they will often use their second hand to tap on the upper half of the screen while the first, which holds the mobile, controls its lower half.One-handed navigation is not completely impossible - you can slide the mobile in hand so that the thumb reaches all areas - but it is slow and requires skill.
The least comfortable mobile is the Xiaomi, which is slightly wider than its competitors, and therefore less pleasant to grip, and more difficult to move around in the hand. The Sony, on the other hand, is significantly narrower than its competitors, which makes it more comfortable and a little faster to handle, but it remains very long: the second hand is often necessary.
